Hennessey Scholar Camp

A Partnership of:

Purpose: To provide professional academic support alongside

dynamic and varied enrichment programming every school day.

What?

The Hennessey Scholar Camp is a before and after school program

held daily at Hennessey Elementary school in East Providence.

The program began in the fall of 2014 and currently has enrolled

over 180 of the students in the school- well over half of the school’s

population!  We serve about 120 students each day and we are proud to work alongside the school and many community partners to make Hennessey the best possible experience for our youngsters and to provide them with the tools and skills necessary to thrive as students and members of our community.

When?

The Hennessey Scholar Camp runs Monday – Friday from 7:00 am – School Start and from Dismissal – 6:00 pm. Summer Camp, including supplemental academic enrichment activities, is available through the EPBGC’s Camp Crosby at a discounted rate for Hennessey Students.

MORNING

Morning’s at the Hennessey Scholar Camp are a time for our kids to shine!  We have many clubs that our kids help to operate including Spanish Club, Math Club, Theater, Reading Club, Workout Mania and Illustration.

AFTERNOON

Afternooons at Hennessey include two main components.  The first is Power Hour which provides academic enrichment lead by certified elementary school teachers and Boys and Girls Club staff. The second is our programming block where we offer a wide variety of academic and recreational options including programs that promote youth leadership, healthy living, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).

Where?

Most activities will take place directly at school, however there may be some off-site programs offered, such as swimming at the Boys & Girls Club.

Why?

We understand that quality before and after school programs are at a premium in East Providence, and that the best way to support students academics are to work directly with their teachers.  This program will be the best of both worlds – blending quality academic support with fun and exciting activities to ensure children are excited and willing to learn!
