Why does East Commerce Solutions support the Boys & Girls Club of East Providence?  For that answer, you don’t need to look any farther than the pool tables in the games room.  Because at the former Sprague Street Clubhouse, on one of the Club pool tables, East Commerce CEO Ed Medeiros learned to play pool and much, much more.

Some things certainly have changed at the Club – from our computer lab and daily homework help to the basketball court that we opened in 2011 – but the values that we teach our members – hard work, honestly, respect, and responsibility – remain the same today as they were back around the Sprague Street pool tables.

“The Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place for a young person to flourish, to do their homework, to use a computer, to come together with their peers and develop the necessary social skills to create a better society.  Our community is made stronger because of the work that they do.”

Ed & Lisa Medeiros and East Commerce Solutions are the proud local underwriters of the Triple Play Games Room, helping a new generation of Club kids like Ed gain the skills they need to become productive, responsible, caring citizens.  Thanks to East Commerce Solutions, Great Futures Start Here each and every day!

The Ninety Nine Restaurants has a company-wide commitment and “A Passion to Serve” in the communities in which it does business, which means that team members give back to those less fortunate in the community. Ninety Nine Restaurants broadened its community involvement by developing a relationship at the local level with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the oldest and largest organization that has a primary mission of service to youth.

For over a decade, the Ninety Nine Restaurants has shown its commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs through a number of initiatives, the most exciting of which is the October Fundraising Month.  For the entire month of October, stores across the chain raise money for local Clubs by having customers add a donation to their check, purchase certain specialty items, or through raffles and giveaways.  Our local store in Seekonk Massachusetts has raised more than $10,000 for our organization through this amazing month of fundraising!

Thank you to the Ninety-Nine, whose passion for service has helped scholarship more than 25 Club kids at our Club!

In Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI), the Boys & Girls Club of East Providence has found a true corporate partner focused on helping us help our members live healthy lives.  Like the EPBGC, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island is a local nonprofit organization, founded in the 1930s, with a long track record of helping Rhode Islanders lead better lives.

Since 2011, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island has been the local underwriters of the SMART Girls Program, which offers young women – ages 8 to 17 – guidance toward healthy attitudes and lifestyles, eating right, staying fit, getting good health care.  Much more than just a donor, BCBSRI is a true partner to the Club, invested in our outcomes and the successes of the girls who participate in SMART Girls.

Thank you Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island for helping our members live healthy lives!

For more than fifty-five years, John Alexyon has been a part of the Boys & Girls Club family.  During his tenure, he has been everything from the President of our Board of Directors, to our Camp Director, to our very first planned gift maker.  More than any other donor, John knows us inside and out and he believes that the Club is the perfect place for children to spend their out of school time hours; and as a retired East Providence teacher, John knows firsthand how important programs such as Power Hour: Homework Help and BE Great: Graduate are.

In addition to John’s ongoing support of Club programs, he also has chosen to make the Club a part of his legacy, making a planned gift to our organization.

When asked about his support of the Club, John will tell you that, in the words of Helen Walton, “It is not what you gather but what you scatter that tells you what kind of life you have lived.”

This ongoing support of the Club has led us to name our giving society The Alexyon Society in his honor. Thank you John for helping literally thousands of East Providence children to succeed.

Want to be a sustaining supporter for the Club like John is?  The best way is to become a monthly donor.  Visit our Donate Page and set an amount to be billed monthly to your credit card.
